“HOW ENGLISH GOT ITS VIKING TOUCH”

Illustration for the front cover of language magazine Språktidningen on the theme is the traces that the Vikings left on the English language, in sentence structure, grammar and vocabulary. For my illustration I chose to put vikings in scenes of everyday British life.

It was a particularly interesting theme for me, having grown up with English then learnt Swedish; I can really see the connections between the two languages, particularly in colloquial English.

The illustrations were made in ink with a brush, then coloured digitally.
