“THE STORY OF THE POLICE AND THE FALSE DEACON”

A series of illustrations for an article called “The Story of the Police and the False Deacon” in DN Lördag.

The article is about an initiative that began in the 90s where the police would invite along a deacon from the Church of Sweden to comfort relatives when they had to bring news of the death of a loved one. It’s a job the police hate, so they were very grateful for the support they provided.

However the police discovered that one deacon, named Birgitta in the article, wasn’t actually a deacon. She had the right green shirt with a white dog collar, but she didn’t have any training, nor was she bound by any code of secrecy.

The illustrations were drawn in pencil on paper, then combined with acrylic paintings for the colours.
