In the last few decades, European clubs have been turned into multi-million dollar businesses, pumped full of money by Russian oligarchs, Saudi princes and investment banks, a fate which has been avoided by Swedish clubs, mainly down to the rule that they must be at least 51% owned by their fans. While this may have cost them international success, it has allowed them to retain a vibrant national league with genuine engagement from the fans. But it’s a rule that’s constantly under pressure to be scrapped…

The illustration was made with black pencil and white ink on toned paper, then combined with a separate painting for the colours.
