It’s the story of Walter, the neurotic manager of a small bank who unexpectedly gets promoted, beyond the level of his ambition and competence, to head office.

In addition he has to contend with a distant wife, an overbearing father-in-law, the constant presence of impending death from every possible ailment – and possibly his greatest challenge, to create an open-plan office against his colleagues’ will.
